And this Ragi Upma makes the easiest breakfast again and best way to give Ragi for babies or toddlers. You can give this Ragi Upma wit Ragi Flakes to your baby after 8 months without salt and sugar.

Quick and Easy Ragi Upma for Babies and Toddlers

Here for a twist I’ve used pepper to spice it up, which is good to cure cough and cold in babies or toddlers. So Ragi Upma with Ragi Flakes makes a good monsoon/winter breakfast for your baby or toddler. The addition of Ripe Beans or called as Hannu Hurulikaayi in Karnataka, can be altered by using Rajma, Peas etc.

How to give Ragi to babies kids and toddlers

Ingredients :

  1. Ripe Beans – 1 ½ cups
  2. Ragi Flakes – 250 gms(1 pack)
  3. Oil – ¾ cup
  4. Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
  5. Curry Leaves – 10
  6. Green chilly – 5 sliced
  7. Onion – 1 big chopped
  8. Pepper powder – 1 ½ tsp
  9. Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
  10. Salt – ½ tbsp(as needed)
  11. Sugar – ½ tsp(optional)
  12. Coconut – 2 tbsp (optional)
  13. Coriander – 2 tbsp chopped
  14. Lemon – ½ piece

Method :
How to make Ragi Upma

Wash ripe beans and cook it in low flame for 10 mins or 3 whistles in a pressure cooker.

How to give Ragi for babies or toddlers

Alongside soak Ragi Flakes in water for 5 mins, drain well and let it rest in colander for 5 more minutes.

Easy Ragi recipe for Babies or Toddlers

Take oil in a pan and temper mustard seeds, curry leaves. Add green chilly and onion and fry well. Add boiled Ripe Beans, turmeric powder, pepper powder and mix well.

When Can we give ragi to babies or toddlers

Add the drained Ragi Flakes, coconut, salt, sugar, coriander, lemon and again mix well, close the pan and simmer for 5 minutes mixing twice in between. And your Ragi Flakes Upma should be ready now.

Note : Here I’ve used Ripe Beans which are not sun-dried hence there is no soaking time like peas. If you are using Rajma, soak it overnite and cook it for 3 whistles.
