Potato Wedges always remain the second favorite to kids, right after French Fries. The soft texture inside and slightly crunchy outside is a good one to offer babies starting on finger foods. These Potato Wedges are an ideal evening snack for kids due to the taste and for us less time consuming and hence tops both of our lists.

These Homemade Potato Wedges are really easy to make and I learned them very late I guess. By then my daughter had already tasted store-bought Wedges. So my first thought was to share it with my community here so that you give them a taste of Healthy Snack and not store-bought junk. As I always say, when made at home with healthy fresh ingredients, any junk can be converted into healthy food.

Potatoes are healthy and do not go by all the messy knowledge that it’s gassy, not digestible, etc. You must just know how to use it for babies, that’s with a pinch of cumin to ease out the issue. Stick to it that moderation is key and too much of anything is never too good. Limit the quantity.

Homemade Potato Wedges make for an ideal snack option among toddlers, kids, and even adults. Cooked in fresh and healthy oil at home, definitely does not make it fall under the junk section. Homemade Potato Wedges is an ever winning finger food among learning babies as it is easy to pick and is tasty.

Ingredients

  1. Long Sized Potatoes– 2
  2. Water - For Boiling 
  3. Oil – for deep frying
  4. Salt - As per the taste
  5. Chilli Powder - As per the taste

Method

  1. Take longer potatoes, remove the skin, rinse and cut it into wedges. Watch the video for clarity. Now transfer this to a vessel, add some water, salt and cook it for 3 - 5 minutes. Remember we do not need to cook it softly just boiling so that it doesn’t feel uncooked when deep-fried.
  2. When you check the boiled potatoes they should be firm and not turn soft. Strain the excess water and keep it aside. In a wide pan heat oil and start to deep fry the potatoes on a high flame. Note the oil should be very hot to fry these potatoes to get the perfect texture.
  3. Once the potatoes turn golden brown, filter the excess oil and transfer it to a serving bowl.
  4. To this add salt and chili powder as per the taste and mix it with fingers so that it coats well. Alternatively, you can add pepper powder only for younger babies. Flavoring can be any from Italian herbs to mayo to chat masala, remember to customize it according to your family’s taste buds.
  5. Yummy Homemade Potato Wedges are ready to be served.

Method of making Potato Wedges
