When I started to learn cooking after my marriage I was surprised to know that someone would crave or yearn to have a khichdi. The reason being my husband liking it so much that he would drive till Krishnagiri to just have this Khichdi or Khara Pongal. I was further amused by the varieties this simple Indian food can offer, can be easily made using any form of grain, millets, cereals or lentils. No wonder my blog has many Khichdi recipes to date. And today I share another yummy recipe from my kitchen, which is a protein and calcium-rich super combo – Daliya Paneer Khichdi.

Daliya Paneer Khichdi for Babies and Kids

Great for breakfast or lunch, khichdi is a traditional Indian food given during ill health to babies, kids, and adults. Make it during cough or cold and serve your child for that instant relief. A dollop of ghee is what makes it double nutritious.

When can you give Daliya Paneer Khichdi to your Baby?

You can give it to your baby as early as 8 months minus salt.

DALIYA PANEER KHICHDI for Babies & Kids

Great for breakfast or lunch, khichdi is a traditional indian food given during ill health to babies, kids and adults. Make it during cough or cold and serve your child for that instant relief. A dollop of ghee is what makes it double nutritious.

Ingredients

  1. Daliya - 2  tbsp
  2. Masoor dal- 1/2 tbsp
  3. Paneer - 2 tbsp finely shredded
  4. Ghee- 1 tsp
  5. Cumin powder- 1tsp
  6. Pepper powder - 1tsp
  7. Finely cut coriander
  8. Curry leaves - 5-6
  9. Warm water - 1 1/2 cup

Method

  1.  Take a clean neat pressure cooker. On medium flame add ghee, followed by Curry Leaves for tadka.
  2. Add cumin seeds and rinsed Daliya to the same mixture.
  3. Add Masoor Dal or any lentil of your choice and give it  a quick stir.
  4. Add spices according to your or baby's choice or age. Pepper Powder, Cumin Powder are being added here now.
  5. Add turmeric powder and then add grated paneer. for elder kids you can add paneer cubes.
  6. Close the lid and pressure cook till 3 whistles or more depending on the thickness of lentil.
  7. Daliya Paneer Khichdi is ready to be served.
