Can I shift or paint my home during Pregnancy?
Is it a myth or some science behind it? When there are plenty of such things we hear from elders, neighbors, strangers we start neglecting advice assuming they are myths. But this is something you shall better not neglect as it really has some science behind it and can be dangerous if ignored. Read more to know about it.
• Stress
A new home is a new dream – it doesn’t matter if it’s rented or owned – a person often has lots of ideas and expectations before zeroing upon one. So the stress to search, finalize, decorate, pack, declutter, move, guests, settling in new space, new area, doctor, maids, new neighbors, and the list goes on. It’s not very practical to say that you can assign all works to someone else, but it is easier said than done.
• Adaptation
Your brain gets adapted to things around you without you actively thinking about it while moving or doing regular chores. For example, the door, window, obstruction like a table, etc are prerecorded in your brain and you can make a conscious move when you are in the same place or house for a longer time. In the new house, the whereabouts can be different. You may stumble after a coffee table, a step, or anything in a new location.
• Paint or Dust
New smell or dust while cleaning isn’t something advisable for a pregnant mom. Again when you feel nauseating for simple things, this is too harsh to bear.
• Baby at risk
With mental or physical stress on a pregnant mother, there comes an effect on the baby too. Research says it can cause pre-mature birth in some cases.

It is ideal to shift before pregnancy or post-delivery. However, if you are forced to move or shift it is ok to do so in the second trimester. An ideal time when the sickness of the first trimester has passed but before the physical discomfort of the third trimester starts. Ensure to take enough help, not to stress much, stay at your mom’s or friend’s place for a while until your family settles in.
