Homemade Sprouted Ragi paal Koozh
Sprouting Procedure
- Wash ragi seeds thoroughly and soak them in drinking water overnight.
- Drain out all the water in the next afternoon.
- Take a perforated utensil and line it with a muslin cloth. Transfer the ragi seeds.
- Tie it up and place for at least 12 hours or overnight on a warm undisturbed place.
- Next day we can see sprouted ragi seeds with tiny white sprouts on their top.
- Spread those sprouted seeds on a clean dry surface under sunlight or fan till it’s completely dry.
Ingredients
Sprouted Ragi Milk
- Sprouted Ragi – 1 cup
- Water – as required
Sprouted Ragi Milk Porridge
- Sprouted Ragi Milk – 2 cups
- Ghee – 1 tsp
- Jaggery – 1 tsp(optional)
Method of making Sprouted Ragi Milk Porridge for Babies & Toddlers
- A bowl of sprouted ragi is transferred to the mixer. (Already Sprouted Ragi or overnight approximately 8 hours Soaked Ragi)
2. Firstly grind the mixer contents dry without or less water to make a course mixture.
3. Now add little water for the mixer to grind to a extremely smooth texture, this helps in releasing the ragi koozh or ragi milk from the Sprouted ragi.
4. Repeat the above process again; adding water helps to strain the ragi koozh well.
5. Transfer the smooth grinded ragi mixture to a bowl layered with a clean white muslin cloth.
6. Squeeze and extract the milk or koozh from the muslin cloth.
7. Ragi milk or ragi koozh is ready to be cooked now.
8. Transfer the Ragi koozh or ragi milk extracted to a non stick tava and cook it with continuous stirring and not unattended to have a lump free Sprouted Ragi Paal Koozh.
9. Add ghee once the mixture thickens a little.
10. At the finishes stage please add organic jaggery to the mixture for natural taste (+1 year old babies)
(Dry fruits powder, elaichi or cardamom powder, cinnamon powder, cloves powder and kesar could be added for toddlers and adults.)
11. Healthy and tasty hot Sprouted Ragi Paal Koozh or Sprouted Ragi Milk Porridge is ready to be served as a health drink or energy drink.
